Classic Wheels VW Beetle Documentary

This documentary was apparently broadcast first in 2004 by The Discovery Channel. This has a lot of early footage of the first Beetles and prototypes. We see how the early years of the VW Beetle looked like. It seems to focus heavily from the 1930’s to the 1950’s. It is a very interesting video for any VW Bug fan.

VW through the years…

I thought this was an interesting VW commercial. It’s set in the modern day but with a nice tip of the hat to the VW Beetle. Nicely done.

VW Concept Art

I found this interesting piece of VW concept art at Joe MacCarthy’s blog here. If you can tell me what this is let me know, cause I’m still trying to figure this one out.

VW Super Beetle Commercial

Much of the VW Beetle’s success was because of it’s unusual advertising techniques. This one for the Super Beetle is no different. Enjoy!

New (to me) Bug Me Video

Yesterday I received my third video from Bug Me Video series. The latest one I received was Video # 2 which is about pulling the motor and servicing the clutch. I do plan on pulling the motor in our 71 Super Beetle and rebuilding it this year so I saw this as an essential item to add to my toolbox. If you haven’t seen these videos and you work on your own Beetle, do yourself a favor and look into these videos. They are very easy to follow very well done. I’ve gotten more info using these videos than most manuals I’ve found. Here’s a sample video I found:

You can order videos from their website here. Good luck and happy motoring!

Some old Bug photo’s I found

Well they aren’t really that old but they were taken a few years ago(2007). These were taken at a cruise night in Riverside, Rhode Island at a place called “The Carousel”. The cruise nights usually go on from May until Labor Day. I like taking pictures there because the locale is nice and a bit more open than ones held at shopping mall parking lots. The odd thing about this one almost has at least one VW Beetle show up but rarely the same one.

I came across these photo’s going through my computer. This particular Beetle I have spotted there a few times. It’s very clean and well kept. I don’t know the exact year but I would say it’s a mid-60’s Bug judging by the size of the rear window. It’s kind of like Herbie The Love Bug naked without his racing stripes. I just thought I’d share them here.

Steve Perry’s Beetle?

1958VolkswagenBeetle_01_700

This beautiful 1958 Volkswagen Beetle was allegedly belong to Steve Perry, former vocalist of the rock band Journey. Whether that’s true or not I’m not sure of. I am sure that this is beautiful car and is for sale on Hemming’s online. It’s Hemming’s Find of the week
